Death of Michael Clarke
Mr. Michael Clarke, well known to the people of SA, Charlotte County, and the travelling public, generally, as late proprietor of “Clarke’s Hotel,” in this town, departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, 6th inst., after a protracted illness.
The deceased was born in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland, in April, A. D. 1838; and enlisted in H. M. 62nd Regiment, at Belfast, Ireland. Was with the Regiment at Fredericton; and received an honourable discharge at Halifax, NS, in 1862, after 7 years and 314 days of service, and received the “Badge for Good Conduct” from Colonel Ingall, of the gallant 62nd. The interment will take place today, at 3 o’clock, pm.
Died--On the 6th inst., after a protracted illness, Mr. Michael Clark, in the 40th year of his age, and formerly of H. M. 62nd Regiment, and he was honorably discharged, with a Good Conduct Badge. He was well known as the former proprietor of the Railroad Hotel, which he had ably conducted for several years, until it was destroyed a few years ago.
