Former Home of James W. Street, importer and merchant. Mr. Street's business property was located in what is now Harbourfront Restaurant, Water Street, and dated to the early decades of the 19th century. Mr. Street did a prosperous business in the West India trade, importing liquors and spirits, and also sundry dry goods from England, as did many in the early days of the town. Mr. Street came from illustrious parentage - one of the 12 children of Samuel Denny Street - army officer, lawyer, politician, office holder, and poet - one of the leading men in the history of New Brunswick.
