The photographic record of 19th-century St. Andrews would be considerably poorer without the work of David William McKay. Mr. McKay and his brother studied photography in the United States and returned to St. Stephen to set up shop in their parents' house, currently Blair House. Mr. McKay later moved to St. Andrews and married into the Storr family. His studio was located first at King near Water in a small building which has since been torn down, and later upstairs in a building on Water just around the corner. It is to Mr. Mckay's fine work and interest in history that we owe some very fine and historically important records of the history of the town from 1889 onwards.
