This house was built c. 1825 for Dr. Samuel Frye who came to St. Andrews around 1810 and was director of the Marine Hospital located next the Jail and Courthouse. Dr. Frye was educated at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and was aside from physician a President of the Temperance Monitor and a Director of the St. Andrews and Quebec Railway. He died in 1847 as a consequence of attending fever-stricken immigrants on Hospital Island.
Among other notable owners of the house was the Hon. Neville Parker, Master of the Rolls between 1838 and 1854 and later Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court. He married Elizabeth Sheddon Wyer, a daughter of Col. Thomas Wyer, in 1821 in St. Andrews but spent most of his career in Fredericton. He died in 1869 in the 71st year of his age. The house then passed to Dr. Neville G. D. Parker.
Later, the stylish shingle style additions to the rear of the building were added 1904 by Francis McColl. The architect was Edward Maxwell of Montreal, who designed many elegant summer homes in St. Andrews.
